Tom McLean discovers a triumphant return from the indie rock band

With their sixth studio album (excluding a recent Best Of collection) Keane have put aside their differences to present Cause And Effect, an album that provides a trademark cocktail of piano rock and ethereal, synthesised hooks.
Though facing an impossible task in trying to emanate the greatness of debut album Hopes And Fears, Cause And Effect signifies a return to form as well as action for the East Sussex quartet. Opening number You’re Not Home Ana offers a dreamy awakening that Imogen Heap would be proud of, and pacey number The Way I Feel zips along with such familiarity it evocates happy memories of Keane past. This is a triumphant, if not comfortable, return that hints at great things to come.
