Joanna Gruesome’s Weird Sister was one of the most exhilarating debuts of recent years, and for the most part its follow-up Peanut Butter represents more of the same. Like its predecessor, it’s a lean and breathless record, and it’s brilliant for it. It goes in with all guns blazing with the furious energy of their live show bleeding through the likes of Last Year and Honestly Do Yr Worst. Elsewhere on Crayon and naggingly hypnotic album closer Hey! I Wanna Be Yr Best Friend, there’s a more measured approach which previously they’ve only really hinted at. It all adds up to an album of the year contender from a band who seem to be able to do no wrong right now.
