British-born Jade Bird now resides in Austin and that Americana influence is evident on her sophomore record, from the stomping romp of Honeymoon, to the alt. rock the vote of Candidate which flirts with the riff from Smells Like Teen Spirit. She channels Stevie Nicks and 70s guitar licks on Punchline which – though relationship influenced – works as a critique of certain politicians both east and west of the Atlantic.

The record is full of blink and you’ll miss them up-tempo pop rock numbers like I’m Getting Lost, and at times it gets a little muddled, but her voice shines when she slows things down on the title track and the summer of love vibes of Now Is The Time are a delight.
