Paul Brown reviews the assured new album from Honeyblood
Fat Cat Records
Released: 04.11.16
Honeyblood’s self-titled album was one of the nicest surprises of 2014.
Its blend of bliss and grit was a killer combination which stood up to pretty heavy revisiting on my part in the intervening period before its follow up. Babes Never Die though, is one of those wonderful records which delivers something you didn’t even know you wanted from a band. Its urgency is intoxicating, and at the same time the songs seem somehow more fleshed out and richer than ever before. There’s a certain swagger to it, with the likes of Ready For The Magic and Justine, Misery Queen exuding the kind of confidence which can only come from years of touring.
A good band just got great.
