Madrid’s lo-fi indie surf quartet Hinds summed it up best in the lyrics for Linda, the third track from the band’s second album, I Don’t Run, released this month. “My generation set you free” are words that could not be more topical for today’s climate or fitting for a record unlike any other. Hinds will certainly set you free.

While the plucky guitar riffs in tracks like To the Morning Light and Finally Floating are reminiscent of early noughties The Strokes, it would be a misfire to say I Don’t Run is anything besides purely Hinds: explosive indie rock, the existence of which paints internal pictures of never-ending summers, their chilled out dusks, and the promise of a good time.
