North London’s Girl Ray follow up debut album Earl Grey with a change in direction. Gone is the Lush-sounding indie vibe and in comes purer pop sounds. Out goes the traditional sounding piano-led melodies and in their place arrives a summer-drenched sounding synthesiser vibe. The difference with some of their contemporaries is the more natural sounding vocals which have not been over processed like much chart fodder.

Opening with tracks Girl and Show Me More, this collection starts with an uplifting vibe. Even the potential melancholy of Friend Like That demands to soundtrack a classy bar at the weekend. The perfect sun-setting feel of closer Like The Stars welcomes a return to the classic piano with poignant strings.
