Gary Numan’s 18th solo album is the fifth with producer Ade Fenton and it continues with the sparse industrial soundscape that has been a feature of releases in the last 15 years. It may make more than a passing nod towards Nine Inch Nails but Numan now overtakes Reznor with this atmospheric offering.

The addition of distorted guitars to the new songs by the star of 80s electronic hits, adds a depth to the sound. Lyrically, Numan’s style suits a commentary about human’s contribution to the destruction of the Earth. It is just a shame that his next tour will have a significant number attending that just want to hear just one or songs, but that’s no different to any of his peer who still release new material.
