FUR have intrigued me ever since I heard Angel Eyes on BBC 6Music in 2019, their distinctive retro sound an unusual contrast to the rest of the station playlist. Their debut album has been a long time coming and comprises completely new material recorded during lockdown rather than anything previously heard over the airwaves. The choice definitely pays off – all eleven tracks are immediately listenable and my favourite has changed with every play (currently To Be Next to Her; on previous listen She’s The Warmest Colour in My Mind).

Think Teenage Fanclub melodies (Wild Heart) with the intricate guitars of Ash (The Fine Line of a Quiet Life) and harmonies by Hal. Their rescheduled November tour is definitely worth checking out.
