Field Music’s soundtrack is certainly dreamy, if a little too chilled in places

At first glance it seems a behemoth, but actually only seven of the 20 tracks here are over two minutes long: I am undecided whether this is a good thing. As the soundtrack to a silent documentary following a fleet of herring fishing boats, all the tracks have a nautical theme and I did find myself drifting away to this album, its mellow guitars and lazy drum beats, along with some pretty groovy organs create a mesmeric seascape. There is a definite rhythmical theme, a stop-start style and while it is quite pleasant to listen to, the repetitiveness could grate. A perfect background soundtrack, particularly if you have a penchant for sailing, but not a ‘sit down and listen to’ album.
