It was always going to be a tall order for Fawn Spots to replicate their intense live show on record, yet From Safer Place sees them doing so in spectacular fashion. Opener New Sense is hardcore punk at its tightest, this incendiary track setting the pace of the album perfectly. What follows is an onslaught of hardcore at its best, with flashes of other influences thrown in for good measure. Remains is an obvious highlight, sitting head and shoulders above the rest, purely for its brutality. It’s clear these guys cut their teeth in the live arena, From Safer Place is all the better for it, the tracks tight, the riffs intricate, the overall product one of angst and intensity.
