Released: 08.11.19

The energy that is transmitted at the very start of this debut album from False Advertising is fabulous. The trio are able to create a wall of intense sound and yet they don’t lose sight of the need for catchy guitar hooks. With echoes that hark back to the late 80s Sub Pop roster, Brainfreeze feels live and raw rather than over processed.

Josh Seller’s buzzing bass in opener Influenza contrast with the anger and frustration of Jen Hingley’s vocals. In an unusual move Jen shares not just the vocal and guitar duties but also the drumming with Chris Warr, and this appears to help change the musical flavours as the album proceeds. A defiant and promising collection.
