Lee Fisher discovers a defiantly lo-fi collection of electro dirt and beatbox filth
Released: 10.11.17
Not content with releasing THREE Chain & The Gang albums so far this year, I F Svenonius is also releasing his first record in his latest incarnation as Escape-ism, a gloriously, defiantly lo-fi collection of electro dirt and beatbox filth.
Introduction To Escape-ism comes laden with all the conceptual chicanery and justified self-aggrandisement you’d expect from any Svenonius release, and the album is a blast. Of course, the blend of Radio Shack electronics and reverb-heavy vocal tics and yelps will invite Suicide comparisons, but early Peaches is closer to the mark. Svenonius sounds as libidinous and arch as ever, and he shreds like a man possessed.
This is revolutionary theory delivered straight to your feet, Bakunin and The Sonics to a disco beat.
