London based, multi-instrumentalist, Duke Garwood has been remarkably consistent over the last ten years, releasing soulful folk albums with a whiskey slinging vibe. Heavy Love takes on a beautiful approach, mixing his intricate melodies with a passionate, slow and dreary, Leonard Cohen-style of vocals.

Despite being a fairly one dimensional record, with little variation throughout, Garwood manages to captivate listeners and really drag them into the album, as he pours out his heart with heavy words. With a persistent feel of depression thoughout, this has the feel of a true bluesman putting together an incredibly mature piece of work that delivers power and consistency from start to finish, making for an excellent listen of a slow night.
