If you’re looking for anything as immediate and jangle-rock infused as their debut on Django Django’s sophomore record, turn away now. Born Under Saturn’s lead single First Light, a darkly electronic and thoughtful piece, was an indication that the band were headed into different territory and the overall result is an album filled with intrigue, trademark harmonies and more musically creative ideas than its thirteen tracks can hold. Though it takes a few spins to really get into, minimalist production, some bizarre chord changes, hyper-intelligent lyrics and a complete disregard for the notion of genres means that Born Under Saturn is an often riveting sonic adventure. There’s no-one quite like Django Django at the moment, and that remains their best asset.
