David Christian (aka Charlie Damage aka David Feck) lives hidden in the light. In the past three decades he’s written hundreds of secret songs as part of Comet Gain – each one of them an open letter, a monument, a confession.

His first solo album was recorded in a barn, somewhere in southern France, with the help of friends from The Clientele, Teenage Fanclub and Herman Düne (amongst others). It contains stories of the everyday, odes to lost friends, family and lovers, flashes of concrete poetry – sung in direct, declamatory style. Their exuberant tenderness conjures up the spirit of Salinger and Brautigan – if they’d fallen in love with 1960s garage rock, speed and underground movies. It is all enormously alive.
