This album may come as a shock to listeners expecting to hear the breathless and equally breathtaking vocals of Nona Marie Ines. You will need to wait for the very last track for that gorgeous voice to escape from what is a series of instrumentals. But the eclectic mix of musical strains and influences with the jaunty, echoey piano is still unmistakably Dark Dark Dark. Flood Tide is actually a soundtrack to a film in which the band also act, about building a boat to escape a small town in the American interior. A Huckleberry Finn adventure for the 21st century is accompanied by the ebb and flow of a wonderfully atmospheric musical ride.
