Since his 2013 debut Drone Logic, techno pioneer Daniel Avery has released four critically acclaimed albums, with the forthcoming Ultra Truth promising to be some of his finest work yet. The LP features a single with regular b2b dance partner Haai, Wall Of Sleep, which is every bit as energetic and thumping as you’d expect.

However, the majority of the record isn’t quite as accessible as you might expect if you’re mainly familiar with Avery from his earlier work. Tracks such as Overflowing With Escape lend themselves more to soundscapes than nightclubs, though the jewel in the album’s crown predictably comes in the form of Higher, co-produced with footwork-enthusiast Sherelle. A sweet little roller, purpose built for the biggest of sound-systems.
