Some days all you need is timeless country rock, liberal doses of slide guitar and Hammond organ, garnished with natural reverb and string echo, and topped with luscious harmonies. On Courtney Marie Andrews’ May Your Kindness Remain the title track and opener begins sparse but soon opens up. Often rockier than last year’s Honest Life, standout track Took You Up Courtney is not afraid to experiment with squalls of guitar.

Similarly, the desert folk of Borders sits well with the transient lifestyle Andrews adores, whilst the gospel drive of Kindness Of Strangers and the singer’s trademark personal touches on the tender This House and I’ve Hurt Worse ensures we’ll be hearing a lot more of Courtney Marie Andrews this year.
