Jordon Best discovers a melodic and personal release from Cigarettes After Sex

Released: 25.10.19
A stunningly well recorded album, Cry has the unique ability to envelop the listener. To create a real feeling of intimacy, Cigarettes After Sex mastered the vocals into the foreground, and the sweet and honest lyricism is stripped of pretense and explores themes in an honest and candid way. They also play with synth and reverb to create a continuous, relaxed atmosphere throughout the record.
An undeniable chill-out album, it’s the consistency in pace and tone make it feel not only technically cohesive but like it’s been written with deliberateness as an album rather than a random collation of songs. Soft, melodic and personal, the songs just seem to beautifully tessellate.
