Fortuna POP!

Released: 13.11.15

Chorusgirl are a band who are clearly well-schooled in the classics. From the Be My Baby drumbeats of Sweetness And Slight, to the moody intro of No Moon which is pure Cure, their influences are plain.

Crucially though, their own identity is what defines their debut album. Simultaneously and paradoxically bathed in light and shrouded in darkness, it’s like a sunny day viewed through a storm cloud. It’s pretty dreamy throughout, but it’s not insubstantial or ethereal.

This is a record with teeth, as seen on the heavy noise-pop of This Town Kills. Chorusgirl is another wonderful addition to the peerless back catalogue of Fortuna POP! and one of the most impressive first albums of a year rich in strong debuts.
