It’s taking me a while to get over the demise of my favourite label Fortuna POP!. It helps, though, to see its orphaned bands re-emerging with new homes and great new records. Chorusgirl are a delightful case in point. Their self-titled debut in 2015 was a joyous fuzz bomb, and Shimmer And Spin picks up its baton, running with it to exciting new territory.

It’s actually a little frightening how assured they are, and it makes you wonder why they’re not absolutely massive. There’s an instant familiarity to the songs here, with Silvi Wersing’s voice a perfect counterpoint to the icily melodic 80s indie-pop vibes. Another brilliant record from a band who seem to be capable of nothing else.
