Reliably informed

In The Red)

Released: 16.06.17

For reasons I can’t quite deduce, Iain Svenonius – agitator, polemicist, icon, superstar and possibly the world’s coolest man – has decided to re-record some of the highlights of his band’s ‘crime rock’ catalogue for their In The Red debut, along with a brace of new tunes, but insists it’s not a ‘best of’.

Whatever the rationale – and trust me, he’ll have a rationale – what you get is 12 tracks of fingerpoppin’, low-slung, sassy garage rock packed with insurrectionary ideas and irresistible rhythms. The two new tracks – the organ-driven The Logic Of Night and the libidinous Come Over –  are as good as almost anything here, and any album that includes both Free Will and Certain Kinds Of Trash is already a classic. Up With Chains!
