US indie outfit Blues Lawyer hail from Oakland and are now onto their third album. As the band’s bonds between drummer Elyse Schrock and guitarist Rob I. Miller, who share vocal duties, became greater after using B.L. as a side project, they have added another guitarist Ellen Matthews and bassist Alejandra Alcala.
Songwriting and their general resonance is slicker, increasingly poppy and radio friendly, particularly with the tracks Late Bloomer and Elusive Eden that like most of the songs here explore the concepts of time affecting the lives we lead and how we measure relationships in terms of our age-related goals. The lo-fi jangly pop sensibility also stretches into their amusingly charming and amateurishly sweet promo videos.
