Jade Mia Broadhead discovers an album bursting with vibrant positivity

Brighton band Black Honey’s third LP is a vibrant blast of positivity, from its energetic in-your-face distortion-soaked opener Charlie Bronson, right through to the crescendo finale of Bummer. Heavy has the kind of anthemic chorus some bands look for their entire lives and then they go and better it on obvious single, Out Of My Mind, a summer pop song that rides along nicely with the top down until a scorching finale incorporating strings. It’s quite brilliant. Rock Bottom may hint at darker subject matter but Izzy B. Phillips is defiantly “still breathing.” I’m A Man is full of apt rock bravado and big stomping riffs before they slow things down briefly on the eerie ghostly vibes of Nobody Knows.
