Billie Marten has successfully crossed the gulf from YouTube starlet to credible artist, blossoming into the darling of English indie folk she deserves to be.

Writing Of Blues And Yellows is a portrait of a young woman whose writing belies her age (as though there is an acceptable age to make such heartfelt music) and sees Marten push her own musical envelope – a chance deserved through doing so much with so little in the past.

Four tracks have appeared previously and nestle alongside stunning new songs like Emily and Lionhearted to form a beautiful anthology of tender standards.

A simply stunning debut swathed in confidence and vulnerability – a contradiction befitting of an album so subtly diverse and soul-stirringly sparse.
