What can I say about Both? With an introduction of panning klaxon-like frequencies seemingly communicating with each other between your skull, opening track Part 1 inaugurates you into a clatterous racket of sounds reminiscent of the best of the Dead C’s coupled with John Cale’s super early rhythmic work Stainless Steel Gamelan.

Comparisons are always going to be hollow for someone whose collaborative guitar work spans through the cognoscenti of the experimental music scene, culminating in perhaps his most well known project Body/Head with Sonic Youth’s Kim Gordon. Both, however, is a conversation between the speakers; headphones are fully recommended to pick up all of the beautifully produced and arranged sonic nuances, drones and patterns that would be otherwise inaccessible. Working with producer Cooper Crain, Both is an intricately crafted, meditative and subtly beautiful listen.
