Lee Hammond reviews the new release from Beechwood
Alive Naturalsounds
Released: 06.07.18
Turning their hands to a variety of genres, from driving rock ‘n’ roll to blissed-out Beach Boys-style 60’s pop, there is a little something for everyone on this album. The only problem with that is Inside The Flesh Hotel lacks coherence, in one breath Beechwood are intense, dark and moody with seething riffs and reverb drenched vocals, and the next they could happily soundtrack a blissful day at the beach, with their summery pop sensibility.
It’s this unfortunate absence of direction that detracts from the real grit and power of tracks like Bigot In The Bedroom, Sucker and Nero all of which set this album apart. These flashes of brilliance do make up for what Inside The Flesh Hotel lacks in direction.
