Across three decades there’s never been a character in the work of Asian Dub Foundation, or any hint of subversion in their jungle/punk stance. And why would there be? Theirs is soul music in its truest self, their art so personal and so identity-driven that there’s no room for inauthenticity or an incomplete thought.

Autobiographical and optimistic in its broadest sense, Access Denied finds the ADF crew working through modern societal challenges (Can’t Pay Won’t Pay, Stealing The Future), calling them out before reclining to admit that change is possible with collective agreement. Angry in both the sound of its dub/drum & bass rumblings, as well as its politics, this is the sound for modern times.
