Americana artist Andrew Combs has returned with another set of 11 songs. The best way to describe this album would be as pleasant, there’s no harshness to be found. Each song features a brew of soft drums, light guitars and groovy brass work, overlaid with Combs’ gentle vocals. In fact, Combs’ vocal performance is the standout of the LP, feeling like a mixture of Andy Shauf and Bob Dylan, it’s very tender and human.

But this sound can only go so far, and Combs seems to have reached his limits. Yes, some songs are up-tempo and some not, but sonically each song is very similar, with the only difference being Combs’ writing. It’s written beautifully at times, but never to the point where it can carry a full album.
