Self-described as “the Bee Gees on diazepam”, they’re not wrong, but it’s a little too self-deprecating for a multi-national band from Liverpool that’s full of melody and originality. So laid back they’re almost horizontal, it could be a downer if the songs weren’t so trippy and dreamy. Feel Safe makes you feel just that in its utterly infectious warmth while Just Go is musical bliss with the simplest of refrains. Four and five minute tracks seem half that and that’s always a good sign. This may not be the record you put on before a night out, but it’s one you may find yourself spinning on the lazy hungover day that follows. Understated and subtle but no less captivating and essential.
