The fourth full-length album from Richard Knox’s ongoing collaborative project A-Sun Amissa, Ceremony In The Stillness marks a subtle but distinct shift in emphasis. Where its predecessor The Gatherer incorporated a greater use of electronics and pulses into A-Sun Amissa’s stark clouds of guitar and contemplative drone, Ceremony In The Stillness brings in drums for the first time (courtesy of TJ Fairfax) and hews far closer to the more experimental ends of post-rock and doom than before.

From the sturm und drang of opener The Black Path to the whirlpool of centrepiece No Perception of Light, Ceremony In The Stillness is at once the most accessible and immediate of their releases to date as well as one of the most eclectic and surprising.
