So… how was your 2023?
Very up and down

What was your best moment?
Newcastle smashing PSG 4-1, or getting poems accepted to be published this coming January

And your worst moment?
That’s like asking me to choose my least favourite child. I hate them all!

Who was your favourite band/artist this year?
D.C Fontaines or The Murder Capital

Your favourite song of the year?
Released this year? Fairlies by Grian Chatten or Little Plant by Ben Howard

Recommended album?
Released this year, Chaos For The Fly by Grian Chatten, generally… Skinty Fia by D.C Fontaines or anything by Joanna Newsom.

Favourite TV show of the year?
I didn’t watch it until this year so House of the Dragon. Invincible season 2 for best released this year.

Your favourite film?
I finally watched Arrival and thought it was absolutely amazing. Guardians of the Galaxy 2 was good. I thought people gave The Flash a hard time, it was decent. Napoleon was terrible.

Best book you read?
I could be your neighbour, isn’t that horrifying? by Cavin Bryce Gonzalez. Absolutely amazing. For poetry, Death Egg by Nathaniel Duggan.

Favourite new word that you learned?
Hawaiian word Pana Po’o which describes when you scratch your head when you’ve forgotten something.

Best podcast?
Not Another Fucking Writing Podcast. Also shout outs to Comics Guys Explain This. One of the hosts died late 2022, so no new episodes, but that podcast was amazing and helped me through some awful times.

Favourite venue that you visited?
Cobalt Studios, always.

What was your favourite gig/show of the year?
I, shamefully, went to few. Oracle Sisters at The Cumberland Arms was good, even though the support was hilariously bad in a David Brent kind of way. But I didn’t go to nearly enough so it doesn’t have enough competition.

Any up-and-coming artists/acts we should keep an eye out for in 2024?
Oh I don’t know I’m nowhere near clued up enough. Anything my boy Austin Tweddle is up to will be good. He’s a hot handsome talented boy.

Any predictions for next year?
Complete and total nuclear Armageddon please. Just flatten everything. End it all. But not until after my poems have been published on Back Patio Press on January 19th. Then the world can end, thanks xo
