Stuck for something to do in the next seven days? We aim to have you covered with an event a day for the next week, all across the region. This time around we have some indie rock stalwarts, cultural discussion, a Comedy Award nominated show, a festive comedy special, a former Futurehead, an eclectic bill of some of the best local bands, and a fittingly festive play.

Monday 9th December
ART & LIT Cafe culture @ Dance City, Newcastle
With the aim to informally educate, divide or bring together, provoke thoughts and create debate, this evening will be a catalyst for fascinating conversation, and this month it’s all centred around the philosophy of good taste. Questions that focus on how we explore taste with more than just our mouths, and lots of new found knowledge to be acquired.

Tuesday 8th December
COMEDY Seymour Mace @ The Stand, Newcastle
The brilliantly silly comedian brings his 2015 Foster’s Comedy Award nominated show to The Stand, lots of laughs to be had from this truly original comic, this really will be a show that’ll have you in stitches and left not really sure what’s just gone on.

Wednesday 10th December
STAGE Carols and Cocktails @ Alphabetti Theatre, Newcastle
This new two-man play rolls together every Christmas party you’ve ever been to, two I.T. gurus take up roles as musicians while simultaneously both trying to woo the same woman. A perfect festive treat to leave you full of good cheer.

Thursday 11th December
MUSIC Idlewild @ Riverside, Newcastle
Scottish indie rock stalwarts have been together 20 years now, developing a loyal, faithful following, and a back catalogue of albums that have constantly evolved. Wonderful live, and still full of captivating energy, Roddy Woomble and the boys are a good way to spend any evening.

Friday 12th December
COMEDY Catch 22 Festive Special @ ARC, Stockton
Hebburn creator Jason Cook brings along plenty of reasons as to why ’tis the season to be jolly. He hosts a Christmas special evening of comedy with dark, sarcastic comic Mark Nelson, and wonderful cockney geezer Jeff Innocent.

Saturday 12th December
MUSIC Apache Viking/Ambigyoumoose/Massa Confusa/Therunningchelsea @ Little Buildings
Massa Confusa Presents is back, an evening where post punk duo Massa Confusa bring together some damn fine bands; and it returns to the wonderfully intimate Little Buildings Rehearsal Rooms. On show are lo-fi pop punkers Apache Viking, math rockers Ambigyoumoose, eccentric acoustic-looping wonder therunningchelsea, and of course electronic rockers Massa Confusa.

Sunday 13th December
MUSIC Barry Hyde at Soapbox Sessions @ Hole In The Wall, Darlington
The former Futureheads guitarist and singer will be playing some of his wonderful, expertly crafted solo material, through passionately played piano that veers from melodic to punchy; providing the perfect backdrop for heartfelt vocals. There’s open mic too, so a chance to see future and current talents honing their craft.
