Newcastle’s indie/pop-rock quintet, St Buryan, are gearing up for a busy year after a rather successful 2019 that saw then gain attention from BBC Introducing in the North-East and BBC 6 Music, alongside wowing audiences around the UK with their captivating live show. In February of this year, the band released the excellent single, Tell Me, and have now followed it up with a vivid and vibrant new video to accompany it.

We are delighted to be given an exclusive look at the new video, but first the band tell us a little bit more about it.

“The video really is as DIY as it gets, we’ve shot it all ourselves in my living room and Nathan (guitar/vocals) edited the whole thing himself, but we’re all chuffed with the outcome.

The chorus focuses a lot on the ‘telephone’ lyric, so I had the initial idea of recording our individual parts next to a phone, as if we were playing the song down the phone to someone.

Initially, we thought about using an old iPhone, but Ben found the vintage-style blue telephone online and we just thought “sod it, that’ll be more interesting.”

Once we’d got the actual instruments shot, we decided to go a little bit daft and add some clips of total nonsense throughout the video, using any blue “props” that I could find from within the house.

We’ve got some sledging, teeth-brushing, cereal-munching, and evening one of my cats bagged herself a cameo role. It’s a real treat.

We hope everyone has as much of a laugh watching it as we had filming it!”

Catch the band performing live at Surf Cafe in Tynemouth on 11th March.
