“When Your Mother Goes Home is essentially a song that tackles the problems faced by a blossoming relationship from the in-laws (other persons parents). It is quite light-hearted in sentiment, and we wanted the video to reflect that.” Says lead singer Alix. The video depicts scenes from a talent show whereby potential suitors compete to win over a mother, and in turn, their daughter’s hand, by demonstrating their competence at completing household chores. The Dragons’ Den-style spoof sees the band dressing up as women to play the parts of the mothers, while Alix plays the lucky contestant.

“The day of the shoot was, as you can imagine, pretty funny and slightly surreal! It took the ‘mothers’ quite some time to get dolled up and dressed to the nines in the morning. There was some momentary struggles with high heels, a loss of fake eyelashes and plenty of other mishaps. A funny day, and hopefully a funny video to boot!”

The band give their track an official send off at a special mother-in-law-themed gig across two venues in Newcastle, the Castle Keep and The Bridge Hotel, on Friday 21st November.
