Reliably informed

There’s something special about atmospheric, captivating music with an electronic edge, live, it often transmits itself as something that holds attention while an audience gets lost in swaying and moving along to it, as it’s a sound that can really capture a crowd. Two mighty fine exponents of this Polo, and Fractions come to Head of Steam in Newcastle on Tuesday 15th March, being joined by the quirky pop of Benedict Hawkin.

Vocalist Kat McHugh and synth man Luke Lount are the Yorkshire duo that make up Polo; showcasing atmospheric, ethereal pop with real skill, they’re a band with a knack for songs that are beautifully rounded. Fractions should need little introduction to North East audiences, a band that are one of the stand-outs of our music scene; synth pop with a gothic tinge, delectable female vocals, catchy melodies and enthralling guitars make up the sound of a band with a bright future ahead.

There’s a little twist to the other act on the bill, something that’ll add a more eclectic, eccentric flavour, as Benedict Hawkin brings his geeky, charming take on sharp, intelligent pop music that’s a lovely addition to the bill.
