Do you find that every year in the run up to Christmas you just do the same old thing? Are you looking for something a bit different to spice up this years festive celebration? Then make a note in your diary to attend ZENDEH, a get-together of international celebration on Saturday 20th December at the Lit & Phil, Newcastle.

Taking inspiration from the Persian Winter Solstice (Shab-e Yalda), an ancient Iranian tradition to celebrate on the longest, darkest night of the year, the evening celebrates the diverse nature of our communities and shares food, music, poetry, art and stories from different cultures, all under the soft glow of candlelight. This will prove to be a truly magical experience for all!

The event will also showcase the ZENDEH Micro Award Artists 2015 which features regional artists Yvette Hawkins, Christopher Younger and Sean Cotterill. This will very much be an interactive exhibition including hands-on workshops, sculpture, installation and audio which all focus on themes of life, transformation found within the theatre performance CINEMA. CINEMA commemorates the stories of 400 people who died in a cinema during a 1978 terrorist attack.

ZENDEH Winter Solstice takes place at the Lit & Phil, Newcastle on Saturday 20th December.
