Budding performers aged 16-21 are being offered a unique opportunity to appear in what’s certain to be one of the ‘must see’ theatre shows of the Autumn – A Song for Ella Grey.

Northern Stage’s Young Company provides skills development workshops for passionate young people looking to build a portfolio. Working alongside talented theatre-makers, the Company offers an unrivalled access to the theatre’s impressive connections, making it a must for all those serious about a career in the industry.

Throughout July and August Young Company members will partake in site-specific performances around the region which will be captured on film and screened as part of Northern Stage’s production of the play, which premieres in September. Adapted from award-winning novelist David Almond’s book, and directed by Northern Stage’s Artistic Director Lorne Campbell, this modern retelling of the Greek legend of Orpheus and Eurydice is set in the North East and promises to be a darkly seductive tale of being young and in love. Young Company members are invited to join workshops focusing on voice, movement and script work, with subsequent filming sessions in the Ouseburn Valley, Byker, on Bamburgh beach and at the theatre itself across four weeks during the summer holidays, beginning on Monday 24th July.
