London based trio Yak are slap bang in the middle of easily one of the most exciting periods of the band’s short history. With second EP ‘No’ released 13th November on Jack White’s Third Man Records, produced by Pulp’s, Steve Mackey, the band embarked on a tour to promote this and provide a live setting for the new tracks. The tour sees them take in all corners of the UK, with a date at Head Of Steam on Friday 27th November.

With the tour already in full swing, there’ll be a solid set to be expected, with new songs like No, showcasing a retro yet fresh, dirty rock and roll edge. The band have developed a sound that has its roots very much in a sleazy, garage rock so Head Of Steam is the ideal dark and intimate venue for Yak. Sleazy guitars and droning, angst-ridden vocals will bounce around the walls perfectly.

Support on the night comes from Bernaccia, with a bluesy, psych feel this band are another one with an assured sound that gives a taste of something older and totally new all at the same time. Hidden Charms round out the line-up, similarly psychedelic, but with catchy melodies and soulful undertones. Yak could not ask for better or more apt bands to open the show, and allow them the best opportunity to provide a rock and roll Friday night to all in attendance.

Yak play Head Of Steam, Newcastle on Friday 27th November.
