Reliably informed

Excuse me as I get a little bit gushing here. Last Christmas, while shopping for a diary to help plan my social calendar (trips to Lidl for Big Shops features predominantly), I came across the most gorgeous little book, ring bound and hand drawn. It was a Wor Diary and it was truly something special. The team behind the diary, based in the Newcastle, are a collective who come together every year to piece together the books, which contain sketches and drawings from a variety of people from different backgrounds, all with various levels of artistic ability. They celebrate the underground history and culture of Newcastle and the wider region, with a pro-community, pro-niceness ethos behind it. In some ways, this makes Wor Diary too precious to use – it’s a work of art as much as a practical tool for managing your life.

The group are looking to publish a new set of Wor Diaries in 2016 and, as ever, all the proceeds from the diary will be going to charity. This year, in light of the current refugee crisis, it’s apt that the collective have decided to give to WERS (the West End Refugee Service).

To get the project running though, the team need your help. They’re looking to raise £1,000 to help the new diary go to print and become the cherished possessions of many an organised soul. In return, the group are offering a variety of goodies to those who donate, including copies of the diary itself, and having special messages put inside a personalised print. With the money from the sales going to such a good cause though, it’s hard not to just dip into your pocket and contribute to the making of an item of beauty while also potentially helping those in need. Hurry though! There’s only 14 days left until the campaign ends!

You can donate to Wor Diary’s campaign and find out more on their Crowdfunder page.
