Londoners Wonk Unit make a welcome quick return to the North East following a triumphant show at Jumpin’ Jacks last November, this time hitting Sunderland’s Independent on Thursday 26th April.

The brilliantly bonkers punk rockers will be celebrating the release of their sixth long player, Terror, which they self-describe as being “choc full of addiction, misery and love!” If it’s half as good as their last record – 2016’s Mr Splashy – it’ll be an absolute belter, crammed with energetic three chord punk and laced with incredibly infectious melodies. Frontman Daddy Wonk, aka Alex Johnson, was formerly of chaotic cult 90’s genre-defying favourites The Flying Medallions, and Wonk Unit are awash with that same vibrancy and freshness in a scene that is sometimes staid and formulaic, making them one of the must-see UK punk acts on today’s circuit.

It promises to be an altogether punktastic line-up with The Raging Nathans arriving all the way from Ohio, USA and Lost Avenue from Derry opening the night and celebrating the release of their own debut album. So don’t delay, pop the pogo boots on and we’ll see you in the mosh pit!
