A new piece of work at Northern Stage endeavours to discover the state of Great Britain through the words, actions and thoughts of Generation Z. Taking place from Wednesday 25th until Saturday 28th April, Where Do We Stand? is borne out of work produced by Northern Stage’s Young Company, which offers practical support and opportunities to young people aged 16-21 interested in all aspects of theatre making. The scheme’s diverse Ensemble and Collective groups develop, produce and collaborate on theatre events across Newcastle, providing high quality performances and events while taking advantage of a wealth of knowledge and skills offered by industry professionals.

The production is collectively written by Kamal Kaan, Lee Mattinson, Laurence Wilson and the Young Company, and will feature percussion from Northumberland Street busker Lee McMenemy. The show promises to raise important topics that affect young people in Newcastle right now. Young Company Associate Director Louie Ingham says, “The show is a heady fusion of spoken word, live music, physical and visual landscapes. Prepare to question where you stand on everything from love, work, gender, globalisation, peace, rebellion, sovereignty, designer brands and bent bananas.”
