Life was hard enough without 2020 becoming a thing… but sadly it is and as reality becomes an increasingly unbearable concept we turn to art and media to offer us a smidgen of relief. If you want to plug into the Matrix for a moment’s respite but are yet unsure as to what immersive experience you’d like to be a part of, then can we suggest When The World Is Loud, an audio theatre experience created by multi-award winning, theatre, drama and creative learning charity Mortal Fools that will take you on a journey of discovery, escape and hope for the future.

From conception to the final details WTWIL was created with thirty young people and ten professional artists from around the region. The project brought onboard the expertise of professional sound designers Mark Melville and Matthew Tuckey to develop a high-quality audio experience that will wow the listener and educate the young people who are part of the project.

When The World Is Loud project leader and Mortal Fools’ Creative Producer, Helen Ferguson, explains what they hope to achieve with this auditory experience.“We wanted to create something that would support people’s wellbeing, help people feel connected and it was important to make something worthwhile, that helped people during this time. We really hope everyone who listens feels a bit better about the world afterwards. When the World is Loud will provide moments that make you feel happy, make you think and help you reflect on your feelings, combined with some great stories, inspiring community voices and brilliant original music and soundscape.”

It’s for all ages and to enjoy it all you need is a smartphone, some headphones and 70 minutes of free time. It is free to listen to, but Mortal Fools, a registered charity, are inviting donations to further support their work with children and young people.
