Reliably informed

Endearingly named Scottish rogues We Were Promised Jetpacks return to the region with a bang this month, bringing their delightfully atmospheric brand of indie rock to the Cluny on Friday 12th December.

Despite a three-year gap between their second LP, In the Pit Of the Stomach, and their third, Unravelling, which was released in October, the band seem to have never been away. In fact, they’ve come back, better and (quite literally) bigger, with a new addition to the line-up: multi-instrumentalist Stuart McGachan on guitars, keys and backup vocals. The now-five-piece will be debuting songs from their well-received third album, to complement their other popular tracks, including big hitters Quiet Little Voices and It’s Thunder and It’s Lightning.

While their fellow Scots-label mates, including Frightened Rabbit and The Twilight Sad, may have been more visibly active over the last couple of years, it’s certainly done the Jetpacks no harm to knuckle down and work hard producing more of what we know and love. They’ve just returned from an epic Stateside tour, where they’ve amassed a considerable fanbase – accents proving no obstacle. This then may be a rare chance to catch them in such an intimate venue before they blast off into the stratosphere.

We Were Promised Jetpacks play at The Cluny on Friday 12th December.
