Over the past few years vinyl has been undergoing something of a resurgence of popularity. Unfortunately though, for a lot of us in the smaller towns in the region, getting our hands on the best vinyl out there either means ordering online (and incurring some horrible postage charges) or making a trip into the larger cities. Frustrated with the lack of places to buy a quality record in Durham, Gigiti founder Luke Stuart-Smith has set up one-day event Wax In The Attic to give the citizens of the cathedral city the chance to buy their LPs.

“The only place to buy records in Durham currently is Oxfam and the selection is quite small. We wanted to serve the collectors who have to trek to Newcastle or further afield to go record shopping,” Stuart-Smith said of the event.

On the day, Gigiti are bringing together a number of vinyl sellers from a huge range of musical genres to the Empty Shop. If that wasn’t enough, the day will also feature performances from a number of DJs, including Stuart Swift of Ears Not Eyes. For a measly £2, it’s a vinyl lover’s dream.

Wax In The Attic takes place at the Empty Shop, Durham on Sunday 31st May.
