Having only formed in March this year, Sheffield alt-pop wizards Vuromatics have already been on the receiving end of significant press attention and hype, with one E.P. and dates across Britain under their belt so far.

Of course, Sheffield is a city with a rich tradition of electronic and experimental pop, reaching back to the days of The Human League and Cabaret Voltaire, and Vuromatics clearly intend to align themselves with their illustrious predecessors. However, there’s a distinctly modern sheen and bombast to their material that stops it from becoming outright pastiche and keeps the band rooted firmly in the here and now.

This August, the band are launching another U.K. tour that finds them striking into the region with the assistance of the region’s own show-stealing pop enthusiasts, the gorgeously dramatic Twist Helix. On Friday 11th August, both bands play Stockton’s Green Room alongside support from Talk Symmetry and Eddie and the Valkyries.

Then on Saturday 12th August, Twist Helix and Vuromatics come to Think Tank? Underground in Newcastle (a.k.a. The Head of Steam), where they’re joined by alt-rock noiseniks Slurs – themselves embarking on a tour that includes dates in Sheffield and Glasgow this month – and indie rock upstarts Scalesia.
