UK’s first socially distanced music venue announces a couple more big acts to it’s exciting programme of events. Having already announced Van Morrison and Jimmy Carr to its line-up this Summer, organisers at Virgin Money Unity Arena recently announced a couple of homegrown heroes in the form of North-Shields singer-songwriter and Ivor Novello Awards nominee Sam Fender, as well as Newcastle dance icon Patrick Topping.

After an amazing year, which saw his debut album Hypersonic Missiles soar to the top of the UK album charts, Sam Fender, backed by his band, will open proceedings on Thursday 13th August. Something he is very excited about.

”Absolutely buzzing for this, getting the band and crew back together for probably our only gig of the year. Apparently this is the first socially distanced show of its kind and it’s amazing to see the north east leading the way, it’s huge for the area. There’s a few hundred platforms with 5 people on each. Grab a few mates and let’s have a platform party!! We’re going to play a couple of brand new tunes too. Tickets on sale Friday!!!”

North East fans will be treated to a full live performance which also promises to feature never heard before material from Fender’s eagerly anticipated second album.

On Friday 21st August, Patrick Topping will take to the stage. The contemporary face of British house and techno continues to garner widespread acclaim on account of his prolific production prowess and dynamic DJ sets. Patrick’s chock-a-block back-catalogue is bursting with iconic dance-floor records on labels such as Hot Creations, Truesoul, Relief Records, and of course his very own TRICK RECORDS, with further remixes for Calvin Harris and Booka Shade charting Patrick’s meteoric rise. Like Sam Fender Patrick is also looking forward to returning to the Toon.

“So buzzing to finally do a show back home again and this one is gunna be so special, as it’s the first of its kind – an outdoor festival stage set up for 2000 people but you all get your own private platform, so 5 of you can have your own platform party! Tickets go on sale this Wednesday.”

Sam Fender’s show has already sold out, however tickets for Patrick Topping are on sale priced at £22.50 plus booking fee. Head to virginmoneyunityarena.com to buy tickets.
