Self-described ‘freak folk’ troubadour Andy Cabic brings his band Vetiver to the Land of the Prince Bishops on Monday 9th December in support of stunning seventh album Up On High.

It took the Virginia native four years to craft a follow up to 2015’s Complete Strangers, but the final cut was a collection of tender and introspective tracks that beautifully illustrated the full breadth of his songwriting sensibilities.

Thoroughly in the midst of a rigorous touring schedule that sees them take in everywhere from Seattle to Warsaw, it’s hard to imagine Cabic and his band of loyal compadres playing anywhere quite as eclectic or characterful as the Old Cinema Laundrette in Durham during their run. An actual, literal working laundrette by day and a cosy, quirky gig venue when the sun goes down, any show seen there in amongst the washers and the driers is one to savour.

As for Vetiver themselves, they have pedigree by the bucketload having shared stages with the likes of Fleet Foxes, Wilco, and The Shins down the years. Old hands of the indie folk scene, it will be both a rarity and a treat to witness them in such intimate surroundings.
