2015 marks the fifth year since the opening of 36 Lime Street’s gallery space. In that time they’ve hosted works from a variety of emerging artists, but for this milestone year they’re attempting to make the gallery bigger and better than ever. Various Stains is the first exhibition to be commissioned by the gallery this year and kicks off a run of events that will last until January 2016, encompassing a variety of different artistic media.

Various Stains has been curated by Clare Gomez and features  artwork by Jamie Evans, Adam Goodwin, Esme McCall and Joseph Shaw. Drawing associations from Dadaism, technology, philosophy and psychology, the exhibition features kinetic sculptures, painting, performance and sound that attempts to highlight the absurdity and surreal nature of mechanical objects. Though each of the artists’ works stand as individual objects, curator Gomez has careful configured the pieces to interact with each other and create a unified piece of art. It’s set to be an interesting, intriguing and surreal examination of the human psyche.

Various Stains opens to the public at 36 Lime Street, Newcastle on Saturday 25th April and is open to view on weekends.
