It’s a long awaited homecoming for VANT, the brainchild of Seaham’s Mattie Vant, as The Cluny plays host to an inventive, passionate twist on pop music on Thursday 28th April. All born out of discontent and frustration at the world we all currently inhabit; short, sharp and socially aware songs make up an impressive arsenal which will be on full display, and is the perfect antidote to modern, consumerist pop.

VANT are completed by Henry Eastham on guitar, Billy Morris on bass and drummer Greenie; the talented quartet honing catchy melodies with a real ferocious undercurrent. Taking their influence from a vast array of sources, there’s bits of The Kinks, The Pixies, The Hives and more all bubbling beneath, but VANT’s sound is one that is most definitely their own. They’re joined by the hotly-tipped ambient indie rock of A Festival, A Parade and the surf-inspired Get Inuit for a trio of bands that could all be destined for big things.
